The Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is delighted to be able to count on the Fondation Jacques-F. Gougoux in improving the quality of life for people with multiple sclerosis and their families. A donation of $57,386, spread over 15 years, will enable the MS Society to make some of its services more accessible.
In its funding arrangement, the Fondation Jacques-F. Gougoux undertakes to distribute two $2,000 grants to two local chapters of the Quebec Division of the MS Society, to enable them to offer the Hope and Cope program to people who have just been diagnosed with MS and their families. A third grant, in the amount of $1,000, will be allocated to a family that will be invited to take part in the Quebec Division’s Espoir Famille conference free of charge. “By granting this financial assistance, the foundation is achieving its mandate of making a difference in the lives of people with multiple sclerosis and their families, by offering them direct assistance,” stated Annie Boisclair, Senior Director of Development at the Quebec Division of the MS Society.
Espoir Famille Conference
The Espoir Famille conference constitutes a unique opportunity for people with MS and their families (spouses, children and teens) from all corners of Quebec to get together over a weekend and learn about various topics related to MS. This educational meeting gives people with MS a chance to meet other people who are living through the same circumstances as them, in a relaxed atmosphere where they can talk about their own experiences and those of their families and learn how to deal with the disease in their daily lives.
Hope and Cope Program
The Hope and Cope program is intended for people who have recently been diagnosed with MS and for their families. It gives participants up-to-date information on the disease, treatments, psychological issues and available resources.

The Montreal Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada
receives $10,000 from the Foundation of Greater Montreal
The grant will contribute to maintaining the physical activities
offered to people with MS
Under the Foundation of Greater Montreal’s Community Grants Program, the Montreal Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada will receive $10,000, which will ensure the continuity of its program of physical activities adapted for people with multiple sclerosis.
Concrete Assistance
With the grant obtained from the Foundation’s fund for the metropolitan community, the Montreal Chapter of the MS Society will be able to offer a range of workshops designed to improve the quality of daily life for people with MS and their families. “The funding we received will enable beneficiaries to attend activities in complete safety, break their isolation and give their families and caregivers some respite,” emphasizes Nadine Prévost, Director of Services and Social Action of the Montreal Chapter and the Quebec Division of the MS Society. Three workshops will be offered to Montreal area members: school of movement, adapted yoga and expression through art. These courses will help participants to become more autonomous, manage their energy levels better, and adopt an active lifestyle.
The MS Society and the Quebec Division
